Obesity is a major problem in the UK. A quarter of men and a fifth of women are said to be clinically obese.
The cultural moral view in our society is that overweight/obese people are weak-willed, lazy, greedy, out of control and they are responsible for their own condition. These opinions are unfair and misplaced. There are many different causes and influences as to why certain people become obese, many beyond personal control.
A general response to obesity is to recommend dieting. For many people, however, dieting simply does not work. Dieting brings its own problems. When we restrict our eating, this has a physical effect on our bodies and we start to crave certain foods that are ‘forbidden’. In many cases this results in overeating, weight gain, negative thoughts, low self esteem, poor body image and depression.
On this programme I offer mentoring and support to help you lose weight and maintain a healthy stable weight loss.
My programme is sympathetic, supportive and personalised. Your condition is not your fault and I favour encouragement over bullying.
‘It’s taken me years to talk to anyone about my eating disorder. Julie was recommended to me and for the first time in my life I am starting to feel I’ve got some control back where eating is concerned. Thank you, Julie.’
